EXPANDED PROGRAM SERVICES .HELPING HANDS.
Out of the need in our community (85% of all homes and businesses destroyed) and our experiences over the Christmas season, we have initiated a program entitled .Helping Hands.. With $5,000 seed money from His Way, $5,000 from the Leo Seal Family Foundation and $5,000 from the Stephen Peterman Foundation, we established the .Helping Hands Program.. This program is designed to provide real immediate help to families with children in crises. Many different organizations have established counseling and .case management. programs to help people recover, but few of them actually have any funds to give to the families for needed items. We are different. Instead of hiring a person to meet with a need family and give them a list of other originations to go to for help.who then send them off to other organizations because they have no actual funds to disburse.we work directly with the needy family and pay overdue light bills, purchase car seats, cribs, food, medicine.we respond to the exact needs of the individual families who come to us. Most of these families are referred to us by the local Dept. of Human Services, Health Dept., and other agencies so we concentrate on serving the needy.not the greedy. Some cases involve situations where the children are in danger of being taken into care because of the living conditions and the financial situation of the families and we are pleased to provide these families the short term help they need so they don.t lose their children. This new program is very important and you can specify all or any part of your donation to go to this fund and we will honor that.
