Emergency Shelter for Battered Women and their Children:
Calcasieu Women's Shelter can accommodate up to 33 women and their children each night. All residents receive case management and advocacy services. Shelter staff and volunteers help clients begin to rebuild their lives by assisting them in identifying and accessing financial assistance, affordable housing, transportation, childcare, employment opportunities and other community based services.
Non-Residential Services:
Advocates provide individual and group sessions for adult, child and adolescent survivors of domestic violence and counseling for sexual assault survivors.

Children’s Services:
Individual and group activities are available for children who accompany their mothers to the Shelter domestic violence programs.

Legal Advocacy:
Calcasieu Women's Shelter has advocates who work within the system to help clients navigate through the legal process of obtaining protection orders. Legal advocate volunteers and staff provide temporary restraining orders, court accompaniment, information, referrals, and support.

Hospital Advocacy:
Rape Crisis Outreach staff members and volunteers are available around-the-clock to give support, information and guidance to rape survivors at local hospitals.

Community Education/ Training
Calcasieu Women's Shelter provides extensive education opportunities free of charge to the community. Presentations include Domestic Violence in the Workplace, What Every Congregation Should Know, Dynamics of Domestic Violence, Warning Signs, Healthy Relationships, and Teen Dating Violence. Presentations on domestic violence and sexual violence are available to schools, churches, civic organizations, universities, businesses, and other groups. Training is provided to law enforcement, lawyers, judges, and workers in the medical field.

Career Training
Calcasieu Women's Shelter’s Education Program for women affected by domestic violence offers resume writing, interview techniques, assistance with job applications, referrals to resources in the community, and other courses as necessary.

Adult Basic Education
Calcasieu Women's Shelter’s Education Program offers a GED Program and Basic Education with a certified teacher for women affected by domestic violence. These are provided at an individual level of instruction. Computers with tutorials are also available .

Calcasieu Women's Shelter offers an after school program for children affected by domestic violence, residents and non-residents.
