SafeHaven Shelter for Families

SafeHaven is Portland's only 24-hour, winter shelter where families can stay together while they receive assistance to get back on their feet. Our shelter, unlike most, allows families to stay together while we work with them to get them back on their feet. It offers a safe, welcoming sanctuary in which parents and their children can live, with food, clothing, a room of their own and a wide range of services and support to help them evolve to self-sufficiency -- case-management, emergency food and clothing, rent and utility assistance, classes on housing, parenting, budgeting, employment referrals, tenants' rights, drug and alcohol treatment referrals, tutoring and mentoring services for the school-age kids, domestic violence support groups, assistance moving to transitional or subsidized housing, mental health counseling and more.

SafeHaven has the capacity for 27 to 35 bed nights of shelter each night, at rare times sheltering up to 40 persons. Over a twelve-month period, SafeHaven has the capacity to provide approximately 12,775 bed nights.
