Subject: Responding to People Victimized by Individuals with Mental Illnesses: May 13
On May 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. (eastern time), the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) will present a Web Forum discussion with Carol Dorris, J.D., and James Reinhard, M.D., on best practices for responding to people victimized by individuals with mental illnesses. Ms. Dorris is the public policy senior staff attorney for the National Center for Victims of Crime, a nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C. Ms. Dorris recently served as an advisor on the Council of State Governments Justice Centers publication, Responding to People Who Have Been Victimized by Individuals with Mental Illnesses. Her areas of expertise include victims of offenders with mental illness, stalking victims, and victim-counselor privilege. Dr. Reinhard is a board certified psychiatrist and Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Vice President !
of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors. Dr. Reinhard is presently on the clinical faculty at Virginia Commonwealth Universitys Medical College of Virginia.
