Howard's team of 10 will be helping at the Notre Dame Orphanage, delivering formula and pedialyte along with food items as well as building shelter for the Orphanage (most of the buildings were destroyed in the earthquake); aside from temporary shelter, the children are without warm, dry sleeping quarters. Howard's team will include a doctor and two nurses who will also be helping on the Quisqueya campus by providing medical assistance to the area population. Further, Howard and his team will be helping with Portlight's mission of providing aid to persons with disabilities. Eagle Pointe and Howard have been essential in getting these containers shipped and helped in the selection of items from the warehouse to be shipped, the packing of the containers and the actual cost of shipping them; Portlight thanks the team from Eagle Pointe Church and we hope that this will be an ongoing relationship. In the last week, Richard met with Darling Exinor, a 24 year old quake survivor who lost her left arm and right leg in the disaster. We were made aware of Darling in an article originally written by Agence Presse France; the article can be read here in English. Darling dreams of becoming a nurse and after reading this article we had Richard find her; we have spoken to the staff at the Haiti Nursing Foundation School in Leogane and they will provide her with a scholarship when she is healed enough for prosthetics and passes the entry exam. We will be keeping up with Darling and making sure that she gets what she needs when she is ready. Richard also met with Lisa Bagley of CRS (Catholic Relief Services) and provided her team with DME (primarily crutches). Lisa and her team will let us know if there is anything else we can provide for them. He also met with Fabienne Thomas of HHH (Healing Hands for Haiti) and provided her and her team with crutches and clinical supplies. Photos of Lisa and Fabienne can be seen in the photo album below. Richard also brought a truckload of DME and clinical supplies to the camp at Canape Vert; the camp has a medical team present and has been providing medical treatment to survivors since the earthquake. We are teaming with a number of organizations on the ground and these partnerships will be ongoing, the work ofsupplying people with disabilities and other survivors of the earthquake is a long term task and Portlight is committed to the recovery of Haiti, the recovery will likely take years and we will be helping for as long as our services are needed. We are also gaining information about people and institutions in need from Twitter, Facebook and reports from other small organizations we are working with. Howard's team of 10 will be helping at the Notre Dame Orphanage, delivering formula and pedialyte along with food items as well as building shelter for the Orphanage (most of the buildings were destroyed in the earthquake); aside from temporary shelter, the children are without warm, dry sleeping quarters. Howard's team will include a doctor and two nurses who will also be helping on the Quisqueya campus by providing medical assistance to the area population. Further, Howard and his team will be helping with Portlight's mission of providing aid to persons with disabilities. Richard also met with Lisa Bagley of CRS (Catholic Relief Services) and provided her team with DME (primarily crutches). Lisa and her team will let us know if there is anything else we can provide for them. Howard's team of 10 will be helping at the Notre Dame Orphanage, delivering formula and pedialyte along with food items as well as building shelter for the Orphanage (most of the buildings were destroyed in the earthquake); aside from temporary shelter, the children are without warm, dry sleeping quarters. Howard's team will include a doctor and two nurses who will also be helping on the Quisqueya campus by providing medical assistance to the area population. Further, Howard and his team will be helping with Portlight's mission of providing aid to persons with disabilities. Eagle Pointe and Howard have been essential in getting these containers shipped and helped in the selection of items from the warehouse to be shipped, the packing of the containers and the actual cost of shipping them; Portlight thanks the team from Eagle Pointe Church and we hope that this will be an ongoing relationship. In the last week, Richard met with Darling Exinor, a 24 year old quake survivor who lost her left arm and right leg in the disaster. We were made aware of Darling in an article originally written by Agence Presse France; the article can be read here in English. Darling dreams of becoming a nurse and after reading this article we had Richard find her; we have spoken to the staff at the Haiti Nursing Foundation School in Leogane and they will provide her with a scholarship when she is healed enough for prosthetics and passes the entry exam. We will be keeping up with Darling and making sure that she gets what she needs when she is ready. Richard also met with Lisa Bagley of CRS (Catholic Relief Services) and provided her team with DME (primarily crutches). Lisa and her team will let us know if there is anything else we can provide for them.
