The funds have been distributed through local CP churches and relief agencies responding to emergency needs and relief efforts in the Nashville and West TN. areas. An estimated 600 homes and businesses were damaged to some degree. The majority of these homes were occupied by people who lived at or below the poverty level. They had little or no insurance against flood damage. FEMA will give some help, but not near enough to enable them to rebuild. They will need help from volunteers. Melvin Orr and Eugene Leslie are going to assemble work teams to help. The first team will be May 23 - 28, to help in the deconstruction process. We will do basic clean-up, tear out drywall, remove flooring, etc. We will be staying in the Dyersburg United Methodist Church who have opened their facilities to house these work teams. We will gather at the Methodist Church, 100 Mcgaughey Street, at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night May 23, for orientation and work assignments. We will start to work Monday morning and will leave Friday. We would like to invite any who have the time and concern to join us May 23 to help. It is a short notice but the deconstruction needs to be done as soon as possible.
