notes: Organizational Structure Pet Safe Coalition, Inc., (Pet Safe) is a non-profit organization that informs and encourages pet owners in Nassau County, Long Island, to make plans for the survival of themselves and their companion animals in emergencies and disasters. To fulfill this mission, Pet Safe organizes coordinated response by volunteer veterinarians, animal welfare workers, rescue organizations, public animal shelters and private humane organizations in providing each other with “mutual aid and assistance” immediately upon the occurrence of an event requiring support outside of their own organizational ability to respond.
