A Different Way Instead of giving handouts that discourage initiative and encourage dependency, LifeWind offers a hand up in a spirit of true friendship. While relief has its place during disasters, often it is used in less critical situations. The results are devastating to the community. Rather than creating vibrant, growing villages,relief can create pseudo-welfare roles. People who could plant farms and purify their own water stand in food lines. Diseases that could be prevented through minor lifestyle changes are treated at remote clinics. When foreign aid evaporates or is restricted by the local government, the people return to starvation. With LifeWind, lives are changed through individual ownership, training and the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ. We teach people to fish instead of giving them a fish.

As a result, thousands of communities around the world are being empowered to make improvements that are lasting because they are the community's own solutions, born of their own ingenuity, dedication and success.
