At the Ganthier health center in Bosquet, routine immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases continued Nov. 16, in conjunction with cholera education and treatment activities. PAHO/WHO staff and Health Ministry staff also distributed cholera posters and pamphlets, and trained health workers in cholera diagnosis and prevention at three health centers: Ganthier Center in Bosquet, Hospital Communautaire Christ pour Tous in Fond Parisien and “Love a Child” in Fond Parisien. This week marked the launching of Children’s Health Week in Haiti, in which health staff check routine immunization status and perform catch-up campaigns. Traditional midwives also received training in improved childbirth practices on this visit.
