MSF-Spain indicated they are specifically monitoring Michino and intend to deploy there via UN helo. We have also been informed that MSF-Holland of the following: "… We are training next week in Kenscoff (non-medical staff from 5 sections around that area; nouvelle pourraine, Bon Gars, Belfontaine, 4e Grand Fonds and Sourcailles) in order to sensitize them about cholera and provide ORS." As you and Lionel have pointed out, cholera has penetrated the mountains north of the paved coasted road corridor between Jacmel and Marigot, with devastating outcomes due to lack of medical capacity that existed before the cholera epidemic. A comprehensive recon and assessment of this mountainous region is urgently needed. I was able to locate a good landing zone near Michino. The problem is that the workers going there have no GPS and are not familiar with their use. Patrice feels it would be best for whomever brings the needed supplies to contact him and the people will meet them in Cayes Jacmel and take them by Rhino. A "clinic" was opened with a nurse some time ago by the population. The nurse goes that every week end. So I believe there is a small house.
