notes: Serving Greater Baton Rouge Volunteers of America began its mission in Baton Rouge in 1921 providing food, shelter, and clothing to homeless families. In response to the changing needs of a growing city, those services have expanded greatly. Volunteers of America today is one of the largest nonprofit social service organizations in the region. The recent hurricane has left thousands of people in need of our support. It is our mission to go wherever we are needed. We need you.
