United Way will chair the first meeting. State VAL, Cynthia Lyons, and FEMA VAL Eva Williams will provide an overview of Long Term Recovery and some successful models used throughout the United States. We want to be inclusive, for the whole of community, so, please share with other organizations. This will be a massive undertaking and no one organization can do it themselves, so it will take all the organizations assisting. I want to thank St. Vincent de Paul for helping with the case management immediately as the shelters opened and continuing through with the DRC’s. Many people are being helped in Bastrop, that otherwise might have ‘fallen through the cracks’. As we move forward we want to set up Long Term Recovery Organizations in all the Federally Declared counties throughout Texas. With Texas VOAD and the local COAD’s by my side, I feel confident we can do this and help as many people as possible. Thank you all for caring and participating.
