Mission: VHC is a private non-profit organization serving in a volunteer capacity as a catalyst to forge partnerships between the private medical community and the public health sector in an effort to minimize delays in treatment, improve access to care for urgent problems, and minimize the use of emergency rooms for chronic health problems.

The Volunteer Health Corps clinic provides follow up care to patients who have been referred from the Earl K. Long emergency room for a chronic illness. VHC acts as a "bridge" to these patients to provide follow up care until they are assigned a medical home in the system.
