Single family fires, the most common disaster, have forced people out of their homes and often the family loses all of its possessions. In Northwest Florida the American Red Cross responds to a house fire every 41 hours. Volunter Disaster Action Team members make this service available across the four county jurisdiction.
If needed, the Red Cross provides the means to pay for needed items including groceries, new clothing, and temporary housing.
The Red Cross feeds disaster victims and emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims, and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.
In Northwest Florida Disaster Action Team members and large scale relief operation volunteers ensure the American Red Cross can be there when help is needed.
These services are only provided through the caring of Red Cross volunteers.
