1203 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The Picayune center is strategically located just 54 miles from New Orleans, and 37 miles from Gulfport, Mississippi, in the heart of the Gulf?s most devastated area. The facility is a 40,000-square-foot warehouse at 1203 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The majority of the warehouse space is being used to store and distribute building materials. Clothing, personal care items, household goods, and school supplies also are being distributed from the new site to help families in the region. (distributed via Churches & Organizations assisting families)
The Picayune distribution center will serve Louisiana and Mississippi during the current 12-month revitalization phase, which is helping churches rebuild facilities and rejuvenate programs.
Afterward, the center will remain in Mississippi to nurture long-term community development in some of the most poverty-stricken communities in Mississippi through our innovative transformational initiatives and effective community partnerships.
The distribution center will provide the daily essentials local support networks need to help families in crisis, as well as the school supplies necessary to give students from struggling families a stronger footing in the classroom. Building materials will not only continue to be used to repair hurricane damage, but also to create or renovate affordable housing for families. These valuable tools will help make target communities stronger, better places in which to nurture healthy, successful children.
Job loss, medical emergencies, family breakdown, or other sudden trauma can strip parents and children of their income and the basics: shelter, regular meals, and most important, their dignity. Fortunately, many determined individuals in dire need of housing have found help to change their situation.
Due to generous donors, The Storehouse of World Vision offers building materials to community-based groups, churches, and organizations committed for building or renovating affordable housing for low-income families.
World Vision's Corporate Philanthropy program (Gifts-in-Kind) does not accept used products of any kind. We also do not accept medicines, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, etc. from INDIVIDUALS - even if they have never been used.
A quick response saves lives. We have staff in nearly 100 countries who can start providing aid within hours of a disaster. We also have a Global Rapid Response Team ? international disaster experts poised to respond to disasters anywhere in the world within 24 to 72 hours. Such coordinated work means World Vision can make lifesaving decisions quickly.
Where possible, World Vision purchases relief supplies locally. During large-scale disasters, however, items may not be available. When this happens, World Vision relies on relief supplies that have already been positioned on three continents and can be quickly airlifted to the emergency.
We are first in ... last out. Long after a disaster leaves the headlines, we stay on to help people rebuild their lives.

cat_notes: Dayle, why are so many regions listed as avails?
Isn't this facility only serving the Gulf region?
Maybe we should be entering the expanded avails on a HQ facility entry?
Maybe we should create a new item:
First Responder, Nationwide (this way we don't have to be concerned about every geographical region if they are all over)

DONATIONS:
Job loss, medical emergencies, family breakdown, or other sudden trauma can strip parents and children of their income and the basics: shelter, regular meals, and most important, their dignity. Fortunately, many determined individuals in dire need of housing have found help to change their situation.
Due to generous donors, The Storehouse of World Vision offers building materials to community-based groups, churches, and organizations committed for building or renovating affordable housing for low-income families.
World Vision accepts only large volumes of gift-in-kind product from corporations and private donors. We do not accept clothing or household donations from individual donors.

Five Decades of Disaster Relief Work
World Vision is known worldwide for moving quickly and efficiently when disasters hit. We have five decades of disaster relief experience.
Ready at a moment's notice
A quick response saves lives. We have staff in nearly 100 countries who can start providing aid within hours of a disaster. We also have a Global Rapid Response Team — international disaster experts poised to respond to disasters anywhere in the world within 24 to 72 hours. Such coordinated work means World Vision can make lifesaving decisions quickly.
Pre-positioning of relief supplies
Where possible, World Vision purchases relief supplies locally. During large-scale disasters, however, items may not be available. When this happens, World Vision relies on relief supplies that have already been positioned on three continents and can be quickly airlifted to the emergency.
Long track record of rebuilding lives
We are first in ... last out. Long after a disaster leaves the headlines, we stay on to help people rebuild their lives.
