Through the support of the community, the APA is able to provide the following services:
Shelter and Care for Homeless Dogs and Cats
The APA takes in companion animals that have strayed, been abandoned, or whose owners can no longer care for them. Strays are kept for the legal holding period before being evaluated for adoption. The APA makes every effort to provide a second chance for all adoptable animals to find loving and permanent homes.
Adoption Services
Careful placement of a pet reduces neglect, mistreatment or future return to a shelter. Our adoption staff is carefully trained to bring caring individuals and families together with the right animals for their circumstances.
Veterinary Clinic
Medical care is a critical part of responsible pet ownership. The APA clinic provides routine well care for cats and dogs at competitive prices. Our veterinarians also supervise the care of the animals in the shelter.
Lost and Found Assistance
Each year the APA assists in reuniting hundreds of lost animals with their owners. We maintain an online database of both missing and lost animals that have been reported to us.
Education and Outreach
The APA actively works to educate the public on animal welfare issues and the benefits of the human/animal bond. Our programs reach schools, organizations and individuals, adults as well as children.
