Household Goods Recycling Ministry needs donations of clean, usable furniture and household items for individuals and families in need. More than 200 households receive the essential items they need for their apartments each week.
When considering what to donate, please remember that our clients are often coming out of hard times. Items should be currently serviceable and in a gently used condition that you yourself would use if they were not excess.
Furniture: Bedframes, Mattresses & Box springs; Dressers & Bureaus; Night Stands; Kitchen & Dining Room Tables & Chairs; Sofas, Loveseats, & Recliners; Coffee & End Tables; Bookcases; and Lamps.
Kitchenware: Dishes, Glassware, Pots and Pans, Silverware, Cooking Utensils, Baking Pans & Casserole Dishes, Toasters & Toaster Ovens, Coffee Makers, Mixers, Blenders, and Microwave Ovens.
Cold weather has arrived, and HGRM needs blankets for clients. HGRM , Household Goods Recycling of Massachusetts, is a not-for-profit agency in Acton that recycles donated household goods and distributes them to people in need at no charge. This week, our store of blankets is very low, and we need to replenish our supply.
If you have blankets to donate, or other bedding for either adults or babies, now would be an excellent time to bring them in. We need blankets of all sizes: crib, twin, double, queen, and even king-sized. HGRM accepts donations at 530 Main Street, Acton, on Tues., Thurs., and Sat., mornings between 9 and noon.
Last year, HGRM helped almost 3000 families, including many right here in town. We provided these families with basic necessities, such as beds, bedding, dressers, pots and pans, and tableware. To learn what items HGRM needs most and what we cannot accept, please visit our website at www.hgrm.org, or call 978-635-1763.
