If you had thought about volunteering for the All Eyes On the Gulf Expedition project at one time but were unable to go, I am now scheduling volunteers through the end of September. If you are still interested and available to travel to the gulf for this project please let me know. I will need a photo for your ID badge (if I do not already have it) and have you complete and return the attached two forms to me. You will be invited to join the conference call briefings to learn more about the current assignments and to ask your questions.
All dates are open at this time. A change has been made to housing. You will be staying at the UCC volunteer housing. There is a donation for this housing: $50/wk or $10/day which you would be responsible to pay. If that would be a hardship cost for you, we can discuss it privately.

Kinship Circle Urgently Needs Funds To
Cover Our Haiti Animal Aid Efforts...
They're there. Haiti's dogs (and other animals). These commonly taunted street dogs were timid pre-quake, but are finally seen in some press photos. Kinship Circle is working round the clock with other animal protection organizations to get resources to them. There are many challenges: the scale of human tragedy, lack of security, limited access...
One obstacle we can overcome is lack of funding. Please help us ensure these animals get aid. We've been informed that packs of dogs have been spotted. We have expert volunteers on standby...but don't have funds to cover the work we've undertaken.
Kinship Circle is part of a unified response effort called the Animal Relief Coalition of Haiti (ARCH). Under the leadership of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), we will keep you informed about endeavors to save Haiti's animal earthquake victims.
in Happier Days, One Haiti Street Dog Finds Love...
WeCanBuildAnOrphanage.com writes: Street dogs are poorly treated in Haiti with people kicking them throwing rocks at them. This makes dogs afraid of people for the most part. Because of this, children are taught to stay away from dogs and that they are dangerous. This repeats the cycle of people growing up abusing street dogs. The whole thing is sad — but at our little home for AIDS orphans we found room for one little furry orphan and we’re showing folks that dogs and kids can be friends!
January 12, 2010 changed everything for the Caribbean nation of Haiti
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake collided into its capital, Port-au-Prince. Human casualties are estimated beyond the tens of thousands, as the cries of people trapped beneath concrete begin to fade. Task forces and troops have assembled worldwide to aid Haiti's human victims. But Kinship Circle followers also want to know about the animals. The breadth of destruction in this disaster has been compared to Katrina. Still, animal repercussions are different.
Farm animals (goats, chickens, pigs) and native wild animals need help. A mostly homeless dog population, struggling to survive before the earthquake, needs comforting hands. In fact an unknown number of "community" animals await relief.
We've pledged our time, people, and resources to Haiti animal relief. Can you help us raise funds?

Kinship Circle Disaster Aid Network is the only animal disaster rescue response organization that currently has clearance to deploy to Haiti. They are partnered with SODAPRECO (in the Dominican Republic) and will be landing in the DR Sunday, 1/24/10 and traveling to Haiti with animal aid supplies as well as a Mobile Vet Clinic. They will set up a base camp to treat injured and ailing animals.
It is VITAL that our efforts are supported so the animals of Haiti (strays/farm animals) have a fighting chance of survival. It is also of great importantance to bring to awareness that farm animals are this countries lifeblood and in great part a means of survival. There has not been any mass deployment to aid animals in Haiti and this tragedy is over one week old. Kindred Circle has been hard at work mobilizing and carefully planning this operation.

It is VITAL that our efforts are supported so the animals of Haiti (strays/farm animals) have a fighting chance of survival. It is also of great importantance to bring to awareness that farm animals are this countries lifeblood and in great part a means of survival. People AND animals count and without them, this country will not be able to recover. Haitian animals deserve the same dignity, concern and care as humans do.

They will set up a base camp to treat injured and ailing animals.

It is also of important note to recognize that farm animals are this countries lifeblood and in great part a means of survival. People AND animals count and without them, this country will not be able to recover. Haitian animals deserve the same dignity, concern and care as humans do.
There has not been any mass deployment to aid animals in Haiti and this tragedy is over one week old. Kindred Circle has been hard at work mobilizing and carefully planning this operation.
