We’re building a new Hospital about 25 minutes from Cap-Haitian, Haiti’s second largest city. It currently only has one Government run hospital which has to try and serve over 800,000 people. Find out how we’re trying to help, and what you can do to get involved...
In partnership with Jubilee Action and thanks to their generous support, together we were able to open a new home/respite centre for children with physical and mental specials needs or those affected by HIV/AIDs this year. If you’re looking to find a short two week trip somewhere, or perhaps some form of Gap year, the Haiti Hospital Appeal has a whole load of opportunities for you! As a small charity our trips provide a unique and personal experience, very much based upon the specific individual needs, skills and desires of those individuals who come to Haiti with us. We’re keen to hear from you if you’ve got a passion for justice, and a heart to bring change in Haiti. It doesn’t matter whether you’re 18 or 65, we’d love to hear from you to discuss in more depth what you could do. Please contact: ieuan @haitihospitalappeal.org
Each year foreign medical teams provide a major support to our work, offering some of Haiti’s most isolated communities urgently needed mobile clinics and the like. Teams can see anywhere from 50 – 400 people in such clinics. They don’t only provide a valuable support to the communities we help, but are also a huge encouragement to our medical teams on the ground. If you’re a medical professional or student and would like to use your skills to help the people of Haiti in some way then please contact us today to find out more.
If you’ve got a heart for working with children then our Children’s Home for special needs children and kids with HIV/AID’s is always in need of help. We look after some of the most vulnerable and at risk children in Haiti, and working with them is a life changing experience. Whether you want to just come and play, or offer more specific skills like Physiotherapy please contact us. We also run sports clubs through the year for local kids and teenagers, and various other activities when we have volunteers available.
If you’re an experienced builder, plumber of electrician and could offer your skills to help build our new Hospital, or work on improving our Health Centre of Children’s Home we’d love to hear from you. Equally, if you don’t feel you’re that great at DIY but are willing to learn, get your hands dirty and have a laugh then don’t be put off. There’s enough jobs for everyone.
If you feel you could support our work in other ways please still get in touch! We’d be more than happy to discuss ideas!

We are now officially a CTC. Have about 50 patients today but expecting more tomorrow and getting ready in the next two - three days to have 200+ capacity. Working on it with MSF, Konbit and our national staff.
-----------------------------------
11/23/10 Email (excerpts)from Konbit Sante posted on Cap Network Yahoo group
Haiti Hospital Appeal and Konbit Sante are working with MSF to open up 200-250
more beds now for cholera victims at the Baptist Convention Hospital within the
next week. That number can expand as needed. The Baptist Convention Hospital
in Quatier Morin is making available a couple of existing not-yet-open buildings
to be used in the next few days while MSF sets up tents on their campus
------------------------------------
From Cap Haitien Network Team Member - Hannah 11/14/10
The Hospital of the Baptist Convention is not yet set up as a CTC and is currently only treating patients for immediate rehydration before sending them to Justinien. They are not at present equipt to deal with further intervention, although there are plans in the pipeline.

Email from Carwyn at Hospital: 11/11/10

HHA HEALTH CENTRE
In 2007 we opened our first Health Centre which provides urgently needed primary health care to many people, a food distribution and vaccination programme, health education and a 4x4 Ambulance service. Find out more about the exciting ways you could help us reach more people through our health work...
------------------------------
HHA HOSPITAL PROJECT:
We’re building a new Hospital about 25 minutes from Cap-Haitian, Haiti’s second largest city. It currently only has one Government run hospital which has to try and serve over 800,000 people. Find out how we’re trying to help, and what you can do to get involved...
------------------------------
HOUSE OF BLESSINGS:
In partnership with Jubilee Action and thanks to their generous support, together we were able to open a new home/respite centre for children with physical and mental specials needs or those affected by HIV/AIDs this year. Find out how you could get involved in supporting these vulnerable children...
------------------------------
VOLUNTEERING (FROM THE SITE):
MEDICAL TEAMS:
Each year foreign medical teams provide a major support to our work, offering some of Haiti’s most isolated communities urgently needed mobile clinics and the like. Teams can see anywhere from 50 – 400 people in such clinics. They don’t only provide a valuable support to the communities we help, but are also a huge encouragement to our medical teams on the ground. If you’re a medical professional or student and would like to use your skills to help the people of Haiti in some way then please contact us today to find out more.
KIDS TEAMS:
If you’ve got a heart for working with children then our Children’s Home for special needs children and kids with HIV/AID’s is always in need of help. We look after some of the most vulnerable and at risk children in Haiti, and working with them is a life changing experience. Whether you want to just come and play, or offer more specific skills like Physiotherapy please contact us. We also run sports clubs through the year for local kids and teenagers, and various other activities when we have volunteers available.
BUILDING TEAMS:
If you’re an experienced builder, plumber of electrician and could offer your skills to help build our new Hospital, or work on improving our Health Centre of Children’s Home we’d love to hear from you. Equally, if you don’t feel you’re that great at DIY but are willing to learn, get your hands dirty and have a laugh then don’t be put off. There’s enough jobs for everyone.
If you feel you could support our work in other ways please still get in touch! We’d be more than happy to discuss ideas!
