Mission: The purpose of 1000 Jobs/Haiti, Inc. shall be:

1. To fight extreme poverty in Haiti by helping to create sustainable jobs at fair wages in the Central Plateau of Haiti through marketing, sales, public relations, financial assistance, education, training and other job-creating activities.

2. To provide business, marketing, and entrepreneurial assistance to Haitian artisans, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs, in order to promote and enable employment and self-sufficiency.

3. To facilitate and promote the development of commercial relationships between, on the one hand, distributors, retailers, other buyers of good, and entities engaged in international trade who are located outside of Haiti, and on the other hand, Haitian artisans, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs, for the purpose of developing markets for the products produced by the Haitian artisans, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs, and attaining the ultimate goal of creating opportunities for employment.

1000 Jobs/Haiti is Helping On the Ground

Plateau Central (Haiti) - As part of its contribution to the reconstruction of the country, 1000 Jobs/Haiti hosted Leila Chirayath Janah (Samasource Founder and CEO) in Mirebalais on Sunday February 14, 2010, where she gave a training on "Mission 4636" initiative. Her mission in Haiti was to establish a digital work center, to create jobs for some of the thousands of people that have fled the capital to find work, through a partnership between these two organizations. "Mission 4636" (http://www.samasource.org/haiti/) is a collaboration among several organizations to translate emergency text messages into English to assist aid workers in rescue operations.

January 19, 2010 - 1000 Jobs/Haiti president, Buck Close, was in Haiti when the earthquake hit last week. He returned today to lend his assistance to our friends, our employees and their families, with much-needed food supplies, drinking water and medicines. We will also provide medical checkups, and make sure our employees get paid while they take time to mourn the loss of loved ones.
