MSPP and Google Map. 19.5592° N, 71.8858° W
I have asked for the contact info for MERLIN to determine the status of setting up a CTP or CTU.

Danda is a little village, a rural community. It doesn't mention in the google map. It is located on the south of Fort Liberte at about 20 Kilometers. There are two roads to follow to reach Danda Community. You can go there from Fort Liberte by using the crossroad of Malfeti leading to Danda. And from Terrier Rouge through Grand-Bassin, the town which it depends on. It is located at 10 kilometers from Grand-Bassin.
As I told you MSPP is managing a CTC next to Grand-Bassin to hospitalized Cholera patients and advised us to hospitalize them also in Danda Dispensary but we don't have enough facilities to keep them for long. We are thinking about that because most of them die on the road referring to Fort-Liberte's hospital.
On the other hand, I hasten to tell you that I am a member of the yahoo group for the Cap-Haitien Health Network. I have just made contact with Hannah Steadman in Cap-Hitien in order to inform her about the going on of the situation in Danda rural Community.
Generally, we receive two or three patients a day and we hope that the officers of the government will help to find a better place for their treatments. In Danda village, we doesnt have any Cholera patient yet because the people in this place get water from two artificial wells that prevent them from drinking river water. So, a campaign of motivation is verry important to inform the population some prevention cares.
Today, I have just received a few boxes of soap from "Clean the world soap" to distribuate for the people who are living in Danda community. Thank you very much for your help.
On the other hand, the Danda Dispensary has a great financial problem to pay the salary of the nurses as I told you before. We just keep praying to see how God will help us to find a way to overcome this major problem. Useless to tell you that we depend on your prayers.

12/28/10: CHNN Update
Cholera cases are from surrounding area. Have done good wash education in Danda and no cases are from the village itself. Have been given 10 water filtration kits by HHA/KS last week--used by clinic and schools. Transferring severe pts. to Maffaty 15min moto ride away (PlAN CTU set up last week) using the clinic's motos and paying for it. Happy to provide team to distribute wash and ORS kits as and when supplies are available. Meeting with MSPP and Plan this week to further discuss coordination.
-------------------------------------------------
12/14/10 CHNN Update
Has been seeing pts. since 11/21/10
MSPP gave 4 beds and some supplies on 11/24/10
Received ORS from Dr. John Denee from MSpp Dec. 7th and 11th
Highlights training needs
Dr. Steve James is visiting doc from Limbe, 2 nurses, 1 aux nurse, 2 health agents, 2 lab techs
PLAN International is providing training locally with 1 volunteer
Can pick up supplies at Cap Haitien
---------------------------------------------------------
12/11/10 Lpar Notes:
This clinic is suppose to be sending cholera pts to Troud de Nord. I spoke via email with Greg (CHHN) and was told, it is 20 mins by road (vehicle). They do not have an ambulance so he (the Fr.) was/is relying on personal vehicle or moto as tap taps in that area would not likely be frequent. Most motos will take people and so will trucks, some charging a premium.
I have asked for the contact info for MERLIN to determine the status of setting up a CTP or CTU.

I hasten to tell you that you that the Cholera epidemic begin to affect some people in the North Eastern part of Haiti. We begin to receive some cholera patients in Danda Dispensary. Unfortunately we cannot hopitalized them for lack of facilities. We just give them the first aid service and refer them to the public hospital of Fort Liberte where they can be taken in charge for a complete treatment. In spite of all, three of the refered persons had already died. Today we are obliged to keep a little child for treatment without sending her to the hospital of Fort Liberte because when we refer them they often die on the road before reaching the destination. The health ministry of the Nord-East Department try to manage a new place not so far from Danda for the Cholera patients while we keep motivating the inhabitants of Danda's community to prevent its propagation.

12/11/10 Lpar Notes:
This clinic is suppose to be sending cholera pts to Troud de Nord. I spoke via email with Greg (CHHN) and was told, it is 20 mins by road (vehicle). They do not have an ambulance so he (the Fr.) was/is relying on personal vehicle or moto as tap taps in that area would not likely be frequent. Most motos will take people and so will trucks, some charging a premium.
I have asked for the contact info for MERLIN to determine the status of setting up a CTP or CTU.

12/6/10 Report from CHHN

Visiting doctor only, 1 nurse, 3 support staff
Refers to Ft. Liberte- 3 have died on the way
Need ORP type supplies and personnel/training
Have been referred to MERLIN with MSPP, but do not know the outcome.
