(show/hide changes)Sat Feb 16 16:43:19 +0000 2008 by LTel:mission: -> TRAC, a program of BYOU, Inc., is a community and faith based non-profit corporation serving Louisiana Parishes since 1992. A local board of directors governs the corporation.
TRAC’s Mission is to assist individuals, families and communities to rebuild following a disaster, to help navigate recovery plans for those affected, strengthen our planning and preparation for future disasters and empower people organizing to dramatically improve life in our communities. TRAC’s focus is Disaster Recovery, Preparedness Education, Mitigation and Client Advocacy.
TRAC carries out this mission in cooperation with a network of church, government, business, civic and social service agencies that voluntarily participate in interagency communication and application of resources. TRAC serves as the network convener and administrative body. Each group maintains its autonomy in determining its level of participation while recognizing the benefits of participating in the network to better coordinate services.
TRAC’s Goal is to help each household achieve full recovery utilizing a comprehensive, holistic, and coordinated approach. Communication and tracking are essential to ensure that no one is missed and that duplicate services are not provided. TRAC is a licensed user of Disaster Recovery Integrated Management System (DRIMS). Since 1992 there is a strong commitment among the Recovery Task Force Members to reach the goal of full recovery after every disaster.
TRAC’s History: TRAC was formed after Hurricane Andrew made landfall in Southeast Louisiana on August 25, 1992 to coordinate relief efforts. TRAC partnered with over 28 organizations to assist 2,231 families in their recovery. Special recognition goes to Pastor James Taglaeur and Kristina Peterson formerly of Church World Service Disaster Relief, Millie Brown of American Red Cross, and Sandra Ellender of United Way of South LA, for their help in the initial formation of this organization.
