On Friday, March 11 at 2:46 PM (Japan local time), an enormously powerful earthquake of magnitude 9.0 [revised] struck, with its seismic center off the Sanriku coast. This has resulted in tremendous damage across a wide area, centered on the Tohoku district.

The Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles is doing its best to gather up-to-date information about the situation and provide support for those people in our jurisdiction whose family and friends are in Japan, including Japanese citizens and non-Japanese residents.
