notes: 'The caring and compassionate spirit of Alabamians is truly awe-inspiring. I'm hearing from a tremendous number of Alabamians who want to volunteer and help others deal with this tragedy," Governor Bentley said.
Alabamians are stepping up across the state to help victims of one of the worst natural disasters in state history. Today, many efforts across the state are in rescue and recovery. In the coming days and weeks, the service of volunteers in Alabama will be a critical component in the building back of Alabama.
If interested in volunteering, Alabama’s statewide 2-1-1 system is set up to register you as a volunteer and keep you informed on volunteer opportunities as they arise. When calling, please indicate whether you are an affected resident or wishing to volunteer. Persons out of state may call toll free 888-421-1266. Individuals are asked to provide their contact information and list skills they have that are especially helpful in disaster recovery efforts.

As far as I know, these VRC's will be up and running for more than a couple days. Maybe Laura can recall the communication from the meeting this morning.
Thanks! ->
