The Bastrop Church of Christ at 287 Hwy 20 (1 mile down Hwy 20, off Hwy 71 West), has been open 7 days a week, since Sunday evening, Sept 4th for fire victims as a Disaster Relief Center. As of 9/21, we have had the privilege to help 650 families with food and/or supplies. We realize that we have only just begun to help those in need. Many are just now realizing what their needs are. Our church intends to be here for our community for as long as help is needed. The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, Inc., from Nashville, TN has delivered over $160,000 worth supplies and food to us to distribute to those affected by the Bastrop Fires. The community has also come through with so many donations of all kinds.... TVs, beds, household appliances, cleaning supplies and an abundance of new and like new clothes (which our volunteers have worked around the clock to organize by gender and sizes). At this point, we are not accepting any used clothing. We are also helping animals who have been affected by the fires and/or displaced. Feed (horse, cattle, dog, cat, goat, chicken) and Hay is available to those housing displaced animals. Animal help or donations contact: Jana at 512/922-3377 Monetary donations are accepted and preferred at this time as we are able to go and purchase the things we are running low on and most times "at cost" (make checks out to Bastrop COC, designate on check for Fire victims or Hay donation, dog food, or if you have a specific use you want your donation used for) and drop off at the church or send to PO Box 367, Bastrop 78602. We still have our doors open for fire victims from 10-6 Mon thru Sat, and Sun 2-6. You can drop off designated donation items during that time as well.
