Mission: For over 80 years Baptists have been making a difference and caring for those in need through Baptist World Aid, irrespective of their race, creed or color. The hungry have been fed and the sick healed. The naked clothed and the imprisoned visited. Funds have been used to provide food, medicines and medical equipment. Agricultural and educational projects have been funded. Churches and seminaries have been built and Bibles distributed.

Baptist World Aid is the compassionate arm of the Baptist World Alliance, supporting three areas of ministry:

1. Relief - irrespective of tribe, caste, color or religion. There are three main types of relief:

Famine - BWAid feeds the starving and malnourished,
especially in countries suffering from drought and food
shortages.
Disaster - Food, shelter, blankets, medicines, and other
necessities are provided following a major hurricane or

FROM THE SITE 3/16/11:

Baptist World Aid, the relief and development arm of the Baptist World Alliance, is responding to needs following the Japan earthquake. Hungarian based BWAid's Rescue24 has a team of first responders en route to Japan where they will join local Baptists in their relief efforts. The two Hungarian team members will be augmented by team members from the USA and Singapore.

Once the team has arrived in Japan and linked up with their Japanese colleagues, they will assess needs and requirements with a view to further team members being deployed and needed supplies being provided.

There are four BWA member bodies in Japan: the Japan Baptist Conference, the Japan Baptist Convention, the Japan Baptist Union, and the Okinawa Baptist Convention with a total membership of more than 42,000 in more than 450 churches.
